Abstract:
Wetlands Protection Law of the People’s Republic of China is the first time that China has legislated specifically on wetland ecosystems in order to strengthen wetland protection and restoration. The law clarified the concept and the management system of wetlands in China. By strengthening the basic management of wetland resources, emphasizing the guiding role of planning wetland conservation, improving the classification conservation system of wetlands, enhancing wetland ecological functions and biodiversity through scientifically promoting wetland restoration, guiding the wise use of wetlands, encouraging public participation, promoting scientific research, personnel training, and international cooperation, etc., Chinese wetland ecosystems were comprehensively protected, and implementation was fully compatible with
Convention on Wetlands, Convention on Biological Diversity, and United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. The enactment and implementation of
Wetlands Protection Law in China reflected Chinese long-term pursuit of international multilateralism, adhering to the concept of a community with a shared future for mankind, actively participating in global biodiversity conservation and ecological environment governance, pursuing the path of global ecological civilization, and the responsibility of a major country to build a community of life on earth.
