Abstract: The Yellow River is the Mother River of the Chinese nation and an important ecological defense in China. The Yellow River in Henan province which spans the middle and lower reaches of the river has a unique natural ecological location and resources. In this paper, the proposed national park range includes the key ecological function areas such as the wetland ecosystem in the middle-low Yellow River and several important natural protected areas along the mainstream of the Yellow River in Henan province such as Henan Yellow River wetland national nature reserve. The feasibility of establishing a national park in the middle-lower Yellow River was discussed according to 3 establishment requirements and 9 identification indicators of the Specification for National Park Establishment, including national representativeness, ecological importance, and management feasibility. Given the existing problems, some relevant countermeasures or suggestions were put forward to provide reference for optimizing the ecological protection pattern, promoting the integration and optimization of natural protected areas, and developing a natural reserve system mainly composed of national parks in the middle-lower Yellow River.
