Evaluation of Habitat Suitability for Northward Migration Region of Asian Elephant in Yunnan Province

摘要: 动物栖息地选择是一个分层的行为决策过程。本研究采用层次分析法和遥感技术,针对亚洲象栖息地选择的海拔、坡度、食物丰富度、栖息地隐蔽度、人为活动影响和距水源地距离等6个影响因子,分析和评估了云南亚洲象北移区域生境适宜性。研究结果表明,元江和李仙江流域为亚洲象北移适宜性最高的区域;除上述流域外,亚洲象北移生境适宜性较高的区域主要呈片段化分布,难以形成南北带状生态廊道供其迁移、扩散。基于云南亚洲象北移区域生境适宜性的评价结果,科学引导亚洲象迁入适宜生境区,促进其返迁至原栖息生境,可为管理部门提供亚洲象保护管理科学依据,以保障北移亚洲象群及当地社区居民的生命财产安全。Abstract: Animal habitat selection is a hierarchical behavioral decision-making process. In this study, we used the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and remote sensing technology to analyze and evaluate the habitat suitability for the Asian elephant in the northward migration region. The analysis is based on six factors affecting the habitat selection of the Asian elephant, including elevation, slope, food abundance, habitat concealment, human disturbance, and proximity to the water source. The results showed that Yuanjiang and Lixianjiang River Basin had the highest suitability for the northward migration of Asian elephants. Except for the above basins, the areas with higher suitability for the northward migration of Asian elephants were mainly distributed in fragments, and it was difficult to form a north-south ecological corridor for migration. Based on the evaluation results of habitat suitability in the northward migration region of Asian elephants in Yunnan, the Asian elephants were scientifically guided to move into the suitable habitat and promoted to return to the original habitat. The scientific basis for the protection and management of Asian elephants was provided for the management department, and the life and property safety of the Asian elephants migrating northward and the local community residents were guaranteed.
